Russian court refuses to arrest turbines in Crimea on Siemens claim

MOSCOW, Aug 21 (PRIME) -- The Moscow Arbitration Court on August 20 rejected a claim by Germany’s Siemens to arrest turbines in Crimea and impose a ban on their installation, saying there were no legal and documentary grounds.

The court has scheduled a preliminary hearing of Siemens’ suit against Russian state industrial corporation Rostec’s affiliates over alleged deliveries of its turbines to Crimea for September 18. Siemens filed the suit on July 11 and demanded that the turbines be arrested as an interlocutory injunction.

Siemens said in July that all the four turbines meant to be used on a Russian power plant on the Taman Peninsula were illegally shipped to Crimea, forcing the company to cancel its licensing agreements to sell power equipment to Russian firms and suspend the current agreements with state-run companies.
